Every weekend, bus loads of visitors arrive in the Yarra Valley to sample the world class wines synonymous with our region. For some though, leaving their furry friends out of all the excitement is not an option. Partners Helen Collier and Jeff Jenkins saw the gap in the market for private, dog-friendly, wine tours and created Pooches & Pinot – a wine tour company for discerning dogs and their owners. Yarra Magazine chatted to the couple about all things wines, tours, and four-legged friends.
What inspired you to start Pooches & Pinot?
A friend of ours owned a dog-friendly B&B and asked if we’d take her guests and their dog for an afternoon of wine tastings, and being dog owners, we knew the dog- friendly venues. When we dropped the guests back that evening, they said it was so much fun we should start a business. So we did, that weekend. We don’t hang about.
