Nature close up: fungi & flowers with Bruce Fuhrer
September 5, 2015 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pm
The Montrose Environmental Group hosts Bruce Fuhrer, an exemplary mycologist and fungus expert, worked at Monash University Biology Department of 25 years. He has authored many books including field guides for fungi, mosses, wildflowers and seaweeds, and has four species of fungi and two liverworts named after him. His contribution to natural history has been recognised with numerous awards including the Australian Natural History Medallion and an Order of Australia Medal. As guest speaker, Bruce will share some of his photographic collection to mesmerise us with the varying forms of fungi, as well as flowers. His photos will illustrate the angles and microscopic details that cannot be seen with the naked eye. This is sure to be a feast for the eyes and will change the way you see the traditional old mushroom forever!
A brief Annual General Meeting will follow the presentation, then lunch. The public are invited to stay for any or all stages of the event. Members and non-members are encouraged to come along.
Entry by donation.
Optional delicious lunch (gluten-free soups, homemade cakes and slices, as well as tea and coffee) for $10. To book lunch contact John on 9723 4700 by September 4.
