Picture-perfect garden where lush perennials steal the show

The gentle slopes of Panton Hill seem like the ideal setting for a romantic cottage garden. This is precisely what landscape designer Ashley James envisaged when he was called in to transform a blank, and somewhat barren, block of land.
The owners had recently relocated to the area for a change in lifestyle, and were keen to create a tranquil garden for entertaining and relaxing. “The brief was clear,” Ashley explains. “A traditional garden infused with romantic allure – an area where they could cultivate their gardening passion and host gatherings with friends and family.” To achieve this vision, Ashley and his team leaned into the property’s natural elevated landscape, working the slopes into the design for an organic appeal.
