DESCRIPTION:Dame Nellie Melba’s descendants treasure her legacy and have maintained the gracious elegance of her beloved Coombe Cottage. Built in 1909\, the home of Australia’s most iconic\, global entertainer remains much as it was during her lifetime. \nFrom May 10\, visitors will have a chance to glimpse life as it was for Dame Nellie. Her own music room with her Mason and Hamlyn piano and original chintz fabric suite from her Paris flat.  \nThrough the entrance hall and its display of Dame Nellie Melba’s Royal Exchange Grandfather Clock. The superb mahogany fireplace and vaulted ceilings of the dining room\, with its collection of Australian art. \nDame Nellie awoke each morning with a sweeping view of the gardens from her blue bedroom\, and tour members will see that vista. Her original Battenburg lace quilt\, French dressers\, Belgique glass collection\, and other deeply personal effects are on display.   \nHer bathroom features her amazing bathtub enclosed behind mirrored French doors to preserve her modesty and enhance the acoustics. \nGlimpse of Melba tours\nThe tours will commence on the 10th May – 2nd September\, Wednesday through to Saturday. \nTickets are $125\, with tours running from 10 May to 2 September\, Wednesday to Saturdays. \nThe tours include a lavish high tea created by executive chef Tony Milton and served with a glass of Nellie Melba Blanc de blancs. Tea will be served in the historic converted Motor House. \n  \nFind out what else is happening across the region here.
