A morning at Medhurst

Hidden from view along one of the narrow roads at the back of Gruyere, Medhurst Wines is a wonderfully unexpected surprise. The driveway winds up a gentle hill, flanked by large scale artworks and sculptures, lovingly collected by owners Ross and Robyn Wilson. Their award-winning home, designed by iconic Australian design team Denton Corker Marshall (DCM) sits atop the ridge overlooking their rolling vineyards; the stunning, two-storey dwelling cantilevers over the landscape, offering magnificent views across the valley towards the mountains. A monument to contemporary design, the house sits subtly in the landscape, ensuring that the focus for visitors is the restaurant and cellar door, giving Ross and Robyn a private space to retreat. The cellar door is also an award-winning, modern space with a growing reputation for excellence, on this site that the couple have been developing over the last twenty years or so.
